Christmas in July
Where did this saying come from?

Does anyone know?

I think it was an old movie, but don't want to spoil the thread by looking it up.

I thought it was from.. wartimes?? or some other reason when people couldn't celebrate a past christmas, or wouldn't be able to celebrate an upcoming one, and so they celebrated in July??

I don't know if that's right or not, but that's how I've always understood it.

Maybe it's said when someone receives a great gift or benefit in midsummer...like getting
Christmas presents.

BTW, unlike Steve, I googled.

My explanation above is incorrect.
