jodiTell me about bird feeders
That grosbeak is gorgeous. We have mostly chickadees, house finches (the ones with the gorgeous scarlet and orange on them) and sparrows through the winter, so far this spring, the pine sickens have shown back up, the red winged blackbirds, and one white crowned sparrow.
Edit - I just looked out the kitchen window, our grosbeaks are back! (The bright yellow ones)
It's been a banner year for birds here this year.
We're seeing (and hearing) tons of blue jays and also mourning doves, two species that have been conspicuously absent in recent years. Also Northern flickers, downy and hairy woodpeckers, red-winged blackbirds and the robins. Those guys are fearless, often grabbing their lunch from soil I've just turned over, just a few feet away from me.
