Lady Gaga's dog-walker shot and bulldogs stolen
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/ent...inment-arts-56196226“Two of Lady Gaga's French bulldogs were stolen on Wednesday night, after a gunman shot her dog-walker in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
A male suspect fired a semi-automatic handgun at the dog-walker, named in US media reports as Ryan Fischer, before making off with the dogs.

ShiroKuroI saw that news and thought, how odd. The article you linked mentions the breeds' expense, but still. I was wondering if it was a Lady Gaga fan/stalker.

NinaJeez. But then I also read this:
"French bulldogs are hugely popular and in much demand, but they are notoriously difficult to breed. They require artificial insemination and the physical characteristics of the dog - a large head and shoulders - mean they usually have to be delivered by Caesarean section."
I mean, yuck. I'm very torn about the ethics of breeding if this is the end result.

+1.
Not all breeding is this way, of course. But there are far too many breeds that have characteristics breed into them that prioritize some aesthetic but also have theses kinds of "drawbacks," which are practically a kind of hidden animal cruelty. Some of those characteristics make the dogs prone to particular kinds of illnesses or injuries etc.
My brother used to be very involved with dog showing (like, that parody "Best in Show," basically) and he talked about this a lot -- prior to which I had no idea. But there's a reason why "mutts" are so healthy.

DanielI'm surprised the article didn't show more concern for the dog walker. Jeez.

I read somewhere that he was in critical condition but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Having said that, when I read that Lady Gaga announced a reward for the return of her dogs, no questions asked, I remember thinking that it was weird that she didn't seem concerned about the dogwalker and it didn't seem particularly considerate to basically give the perp a way out, with a massive reward, without any punishment for what they've done to the dogwalker.

I'm sure she is taking care of the dog walker. And while she isn't asking questions, I'm sure the police will.

In their statement, Fischer’s family also thanked Gaga for her support, saying: “Of course, we also want to thank Lady Gaga who has shown nothing but non-stop love and concern for Ryan and our family right from the outset. Ryan loves Gustavo and Koji as much as Lady Gaga does; so we join in her plea for their safe return.”
