ShiroKuroCatch and Release, Lizard edition
The other day, I caught a lizard in the basement. I used a pail and was able to set it down on top of the lizard. It was maybe 7-8 inches long, almost the diameter of the pail actually. Then Mr. SK used a thin board, scooted it under the pail so he could turn the pail right side up, and then out to the garden and release.
I didn't end up getting a photo of that one, but today I spotted this one on the side of the house and was able to get a photo before it skittered away:
I also sometimes see the metallic blue ones but they are impossible to get a photo of.

Piano*DadI love Anole lizards. Growing up in Miami I polished a hand catching technique that involved waving fingers in front of their little faces, which immobilized them while they thought about it, while my other hand sneaked up behind and quickly snagged them by the neck. We had tons of them in the screened in patio. I would escort them outside where prey was more numerous.
I'm a little surprised to see them that far north, where winter can get a little chilly.

Anole lizards
I just learned this word today (from FB)
I think that may be why I found that one in the basement, it's been getting colder at night here. But today was glorious, a beautiful fall day, 74F
I grew up in IL, did uni in Minnesota before going to Japan, and then grad school in WI, so these lizards were new to me when we moved down here.
I just think they are they cutest, don't know why!!
