No. She is deaf as a post. As is the entire administration. Data talks. Nobody in charge listens.

I would have my child stay home. It would be better than having a dead child. | |||

I think she and other admin ARE in fact listening to the data but their concern only applies (permissively) to parents affuent enough to pay for private schools - especially the small pod groups. However, it will never be officially recognized that they are protecting their own precious offspring - while children of the hoi polloi WILL be forced to return to live classrooms at least half the week - or more. Sauve qui peut! Darwin rules. After all, otherwise, their own kids would miss out on valuable socialization and the benefits of live instruction. (Wondering how these students will fare compared to others when college admissions time comes.) Besides, these parents can continue working at home, while the poorer can't. After all, the parents of the less advantaged hold jobs that grease the wheels of society - industry and "essential" services. That is to say, ones that satisfy the comfort level of the upper echelon.) And if those children and their families (including multi-generational ones living together) get sick, even die, well - tough noogies! The show/economy must go on. No wonder, the admin favors not reimbursing contraception and restricting abortion access. I'm also wondering how long pod schools will continue. (Another way of asking how long will the level of danger continue at present levels - at least, in "hot" areas.) Perhaps they will morph into special health-centric charter schools with greater capacity. What a brouhaha THAT will raise between the haves and have-nots! (Must brainstorm about districting or entry restrictions to bar as many of the underclass as possible. )

CPS just announced that students will start the year with all remote learning. Mayor Lightfoot is concerned about current COVID trends. Dr Arwady (city health commissioner) has been one of the main speakers. Also Janice Jackson, superintendent of CPS. An impressive group talking about real issues.

Pittsburgh Public Schools have chosen to proceed with at least the first 9-week period of the school year being conducted on-line. I think that's the wise choice. Big Al
