Consider this example of pedestrian crossing signal light design from Hong Kong: https://youtu.be/J10KumBmS8o The humanoid figure is green when walking and red when not walking. It is animated to “walk” when green. Not only that, the animation speeds up as the clock counts down, graphically telling the pedestrians to pick up the pace. The raster graphic’s resolution of the light shown in that video is quite low and it gets “choppy” after speeding up, but the video is from 2007. In a more recent trip to Hong Kong, I saw higher resolution versions of it with smoother animations.
