I've certainly been guilty of using some of these words.

My grade 1 students (and the kindergarten students who play on the yard I supervise) all know they have to do a four step apology:

Say sorry (and mean it)
Tell what you are sorry for
Tell what you will do next time
Ask what you can do to help make it right
