Piano*DadRecent Trip
My wife and I had never done a "boat trip" before. Our thought was that ships are giant petri dishes with kid water slides and lots of opportunities to spend money on booze.
We decided to try one of the "adventure tourism" type trips. Small ship designed for polar waters. No more than 140 guests (we had about 105), and a staff to guest ratio of nearly 2 to 1. The itinerary began in Dublin, went up the west coast of Scotland, up to the islands (Shetland, Orkney, Faroes) and then on to Iceland. We flew back to the US from Reykjavik.
You can get the full "travel log" on my FB page from about June 1 through June 16.

That is a type of cruise I might enjoy.
A
friend husband of a friend is from Iceland. He is a superb cellist. Was first chair with the Milwaukee Symphony until his retirement. Now he plays with the local community orchestra.
They go to Iceland a few times a year for concerts, etc..
