Russian hackers targeted the Ukrainian gas company that's a major focus of impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, according to a cybersecurity firm that says it discovered the attacks on Burisma Holdings.
The Russian military hackers began an attack in November on the firm, where Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden's son Hunter had served on the board, according to research the firm Area 1 Security released on Monday.
The reported attack came during the time when Congress was grilling witnesses during hearings on whether Trump had abused his office by pressing the Ukrainian president to investigate the Bidens and Burisma.
The New York Times first reported on the firm's findings Monday.
Rep. Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, reacts to a new report from the New York Times that Russia has hacked the Ukrainian company at the center of the Trump impeachment case, and shares his concern that he has not learned of the incident from U.S. intelligence services first.
