Eccentric antivirus software company founder John McAfee was found dead of suspected suicide in a jail in Barcelona, Spain.

McAfee died shortly after Spain’s National Court approved his extradition to the United States to face federal criminal tax evasion charges.

He was arrested last October at the international airport in Barcelona on those charges, which are pending in Tennessee.

McAfee was separately charged in an allegedly “pump-and-dump” scheme involving cryptocurrencies in Manhattan federal court.

McAfee built a $10million
dollar home in Port Isabel, Texas in an area of condos and townhomes that were on the water. Few of those were worth over $300,000 and many were much less.
I looked for a place in the area once, but too many of the places were in bad shape.
McaFee's place was for sale for a long time.

Port Isabel is on the mainland west of South Padre Island.
There are some places with good Mexican food there.
I went to South Padre Island twice a year for a while for windsurfing. I was there so much I got a library card to the little Port Isabel Library.

Last I remember about him he had escaped murder charges (meaning run from them) in Central America and married a (literal) prostitute in Miami.

Oh my, the documentary on him a few years back...The young women living with him all told similar strange stories..eeeewwww...

I am still amazed that McAfee, the company, never changed their name to distance themselves from him. Shrug
