I was only able to read the first page or so (Less, I think - I can't know how long it is). Do you all have a subscription to the Atlantic? Any work-around?

Reader View worked for me.

eta: Have you checked your local public library to see if they provide access to online magazines? I think I've figured out which library is yours but don't want to post the link publicly if you don't want your location shared. I can PM it to you if you prefer.

I have a subscription to the Atlantic so here is the link it gave me when I said Share. Not sure if it is a paywall free link though.

Thanks for sharing.

But even with earlier health care, the outcome may not have been that different. My father had good insurance and health care. He died the same kind of death. I didn’t expect it, either; he had many conditions and crises. He always bounced back. Until he didn’t. But I think he chose that; he decided he didn’t want to go to the hospital again.

In part, that’s how I view that article as well. Sympathy for the author’s family aside, and apart from the general angst about “poor people not getting good healthcare,” which is pretty universal across the ages, I am not sure what it is that I am supposed to learn or take away from the article.

Thank you very much wtg and Lisa for your help accessing the article. I look forward to reading it. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get to it for over 10 days, though, owing to a slew of commitments. Frowner

(Ugh)

PS Wtg, Sorry as this is probably a repeat request, but what is Reader View?
Will file library info (Schlow Memorial). Thanks for sensitivity re privacy
