My cat is on my **** list

SO was working inside, cleanimg the shower with heavy chemicals. I took a drink and sat outside to let the fumes clear away.

My cat comes walking outside and around back. This is againat the rules but no big deal.

I walked around the back and grab her by the scruff of the neck.

I couldn't lift her six inches before she started whipping aroung, clawing and biting me visciously.

I had to let go. I had to try again. The results were the same.

Finally, we had to stuff her in a nylon shopping bag and tie it up.
WTF?

This has never happened before and she has never, not once been treated with anything but open arms and love when she escapes.

I have about 12-15 bloody gashes on my hands.

Ouch! Keep an eye on it. With my weakened immune system I need to get immediate medical attention if I’m even scratched by a cat.

If the fumes were heavy the cat could have gotten a lot of them.

When I first got my cats as kittens, the first day, I had to drag one of them out from hiding. She went at me like a demon. I had scratches all over my hand and arms.

But that was before she got to know me. Nothing like that since.

Cat scratch fever, right? My daughter’s ex-boyfriend got a kitten, and wound up with a huge lump on his neck. He had to go for two weeks of heavy duty antibiotic treatments.

We have two cats.

The old guy, Mozart is cool but, young Johan is out of control. Whenever youngest moves out, Johan goes with her.

We will never have another cat as a pet, after Mozart is gone.

I have seen vets lift cats by the scruff of the neck, but I have never tried it. It doesn't necessarily make them compliant! Maybe it's not as easy as it looks.

Also maybe the cat was already ticked off about something else, like the fumes. Or just not in the mood for any foolishness. And picking her up was the last straw.

Oh, and by the scruff of the neck is how mother cats pick up kittens, so I've read that it's something cats understand.

Mother dogs do that too, but once a dog is an adult you can't do that any more.
