So in this context, "bivalent" just means it works for BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants, right?

(ETA: apparently)

Moderna has asked the FDA to authorize its bivalent Covid-19 vaccine booster, which targets the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants and the original strain in one go

Pfizer and BioNTech also asked the FDA to authorize the updated version of their Covid-19 vaccine, which is also designed to target BA.4 and BA.5 along with the original virus strain.

I think bivalent means the vaccine targets the original strain and the omicron variant.

I got my booster last week because I wanted to be boosted before school started and Canada takes a bit longer to approve the new vaccines so I would be waiting anyway.

I just got my 2nd booster on Monday, because I'm not sure that the new booster will be reasonably available after Labor Day.

I'll most likely get it at the appropriate time. I think I have to wait some period of time in between boosters.

It needs the FDA's rubber stamp.

"The Food and Drug Administration is expected to authorize new Covid-19 booster shots this week without a staple of its normal decision-making process: data from a study showing whether the shots were safe and worked in humans."

They might not be safe. They might not work.

The second booster gave me chronic fatigue (I researched this; it was definitely not my imagination). I'm hoping it will abate.

I'll reevaluate as I get more information. I'm going to wait.

YMMV.

Yea, I've read about vaccine long COVID.

https://www.science.org/conten...-long-covid-symptoms

If it turns out there is an association it's kind of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.
