"I've got morons on my team." Mitt Romney Minor Deity |
On Air Canada Flight Over the Pacific Why do so many people continue to completely undo their seat belts? Getting thrown into the ceiling and then thrown down onto rigid seats doesn't sound like much fun to me.

Ugh. I was flying from LAX - SYD when we hit CAT (wow, what a jargon-y sentence). It scared the carp out of me, and made me a nervous flyer to this day. Yes, I had my seatbelt on. Thank heavens. Can't stand turbulence. I've read and been told that the aircraft are all designed to withstand much larger events than CAT, but it still scares me to death. I also think that folks who talk about turbulence as "a bit bumpy" haven't experienced this.

+1. I know the plane isn't going to come apart, but it's still hard to believe that in the midst of side-to-side or random-every-direction shaking that happens in the more dramatic turbulence.

I was once on a flight that was holding over Marseille for what seemed like a couple hours in thunderstorms. I just cinched my seatbelt as tight as it would go. I seemed to be the only one on the plane that was not throwing up or praying or both... and that included the flight attendants.
