Here I'm talking about legislation, political wheedling, and news stories about it. So often, it takes mental gymnastics to ascertain what the bill or proposal is really about. For example, this headline from WaPo today:

WHITE HOUSE POISED TO REBUFF AUTOMAKERS' PLEA NOT TO ROLL BACK FUEL STANDARDS

There are many more, and they always stop me in my tracks. This one is not even the worst.
