The photo of the cats and the fish reminded me of an incident that occurred when my wife-to-be and I were dating.

She had two cats, Amos and Andy. One day, she took a round steak out for a meal that evening and put it on a plate in a cabinet above the refrigerator to defrost. She closed the cabinet door and left for work, expecting it to be safe there. After work, we returned to the house together, only to find the cabinet door open, the styrofoam tray that had been beneath the round steak lying on the kitchen floor, and the only evidence that there had ever been a steak being the single bone that was left. The cats had eaten every bit of the steak. With the makings of our dinner gone, we went out to eat.

The story doesn't end there. When the girl my wife-to-be lived with then came home, she went to prepare dinner for herself. She had some ground beef that had been in the refrigerator for a couple of days, so she decided to offer a bit of it to the cats to assure herself that it was still good. The cats, having gorged themselves on round steak, wanted no parts of her ground beef, so she concluded it must not be good any longer. She threw it away and also went out to eat.

We all had a laugh when we each told what had happened to our intended dinners, thanks to those sly cats.
