Boy, this has been something, hasn't it?

First, huge props to Joe Biden for his speech yesterday. When I was little, one of my favorite books was "Are you my mother?" So much uncertainty and stress throughout, but then the little bird finds his mother and there is so much relief. That's what the speech felt like for me. The evil parent has been abusing us for four years, we have wandered about looking for safety and security, and we have found it. I will be so proud to have Joe Biden as my president. Maybe I will go to his inauguration for the sole purpose of making sure the crowd is bigger than Trump's.

Second, I cannot stop laughing at some of the theories the Trump team is asserting in their lawsuits. They are so lame. They have been denied "meaningful access" to the polls and counting even though they have dozens of representatives there. In states that by law must or can notify voters when their mail ballots are defective, the voter should not be allowed to cure the ballot (e.g. sign the envelope) -- so I guess the reason to notify them is so they will feel stupid? Bush v. Gore was a travesty, but at least Florida made a good faith effort to count all of the ballots once -- the dispute was over a recount. Here, Trump wants to prevent counting ballots that were in most cases delivered or mailed by election day. That is outrageous.

If Biden holds on, this win is truly remarkable. As Mitt Romney and John Kerry can attest, it is nigh on impossible to oust an incumbent, and the few candidates who have done so in modern memory have been huge political talents (Reagan and Clinton), and they had a third party assist (John Anderson and Ross Perot). Biden appears to have overcome a stutter, middling talent, and his advanced age, and he fended off over 20 opponents to win the nomination. Then he beat back an opponent who used a dishonest propaganda network to run a campaign bathed in lies.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go wring my hands.

I suspect even THIS SCOTUS would reject these "arguments," though perhaps not unanimously...

A couple more quick things.

I was at a precinct in Berks county on election day, and things were just . . . different. There was another Dem observer with me all day named Jose. Jose used to work as a machinist but is now on disability. He said he voted for Trump in 2016 because he didn't like Hillary and thought Trump would be fine. He said Trump is terrible and he voted for Biden this time.

The passion among people who came to vote was palpable.

There were people who brought filled-in mail ballots to drop off, but PA doesn't let you drop off a mail ballot at a precinct on election day. The voter has to either drive it to the courthouse, or they have to stand in line, surrender it, and vote a new ballot. Those voters stayed in the line.

There were also people who were turned away because they moved. These voters told me they were going to the new place to vote and knew where it was. One lady, towing two children at 6 p.m., had been turned away from two other polling places. She waited inside while the election judge made a call to find out where she should go. She came out with the correct polling location written on a sticky note, and said she was headed there because "there's no way I'm not voting."

I hope mail voting continues. The lines were short. Maybe 30 minutes when the polls opened, and no discernable line after that.

Glad to hear that your work in Pennsylvania is going well. Very much appreciate your efforts there.

I am close to tears and have been all morning. I actually didn't watch Biden's speech because I am not up for it right now....

We need him and Harris in the White House.... the stakes are so high.

He has actually resigned? I read that he had prepared a resignation letter, but not that he had submitted it.

The thing I read said he resigned but now everything I see says he has only prepared his resignation.

Speculation is that he’s not keen on involving US troops is the election process.
