Thank your calculus teacher
And you wondered if you'd ever use calculus in your everyday life...

Case acceleration is cool but what about the case jerk?

Can we differentiate it one more time please?

I'm afraid not. A jerk would seem to imply a discontinuous function, which couldn't be differentiated at the point of discontinuity.

(Where but WTF could we prater on about calculus and COVID?)

No, no brother Al.

Jerk is the formal name for the first derivative of acceleration.

I don't remember learning about "jerk" in physics.

I remember taking the derivative of acceleration functions, but I don't remember being told that the process had a name.

Interesting!

Live and learn.

Thanks for enlightening me, Jon. ThumbsUp

Following a link on the page cited led to this (Fourth derivative of position)

I was amused to see that the fourth, fifth, and sixth derivatives are referred to as snap, crackle, and pop. Physicists have an odd sense of humor. The names assigned to the various varieties of quarks also bears witness to this.

This is the only part of this thread that I understand. Calculus was my downfall in math.
