Dooooo eeeeet!

I never liked the Paris Notre Dame's old roof anyway. This is more beautiful. On whether it will be more likely to leak or have other problems, I will defer to Steve.

Me either. Somebody on the thread said it looked like an airport terminal. It needs to be restored pretty close to what it was.

That design is going to look like tail fins in about 20 years.

Any design can be engineered such that it does not leak.

But it’s not cheap.

Hmmm. I like the spire as a concept, but not this execution. And what's with the gold tint? The actual cathedral doesn't/didn't have a gold exterior.

Hey, you have to change with the times. I’m expecting they will put a Starbucks in the lobby also…

I love the ideas about energy savings, growing food, etc.

But aesthetically? For me it's a big non-starter.

Non.

It looks like panniers on the side of a bike, or Cinderella’s ball gown in a Disney cartoon.

Non.

Oui. With the stipulation they get rid of the garden. The point of a cathedral is to draw one's gaze upwards towards "the heavens". Although I think gardens are heavenly, I personally think cathedrals should be open to the space above. What's the experience going to be like sitting in the pews, contemplating? I wouldn't want to be reminded, "Oh, there's a garden with people walking around up there." It's kind of in the way. I don't think a cathedral roof is a good place for a garden.

But I like the design otherwise.
