AKA man purse.

Taking stock of everything I may need leaving the house, it’s become quite a lot (apart from what I keep in pockets):

Reading glasses
Smartphone
I.D. Wallet
Masks, 1 or 2
Sunglasses
Hearing aid batteries
Folded shopping tote (plastic store bags now cost extra in this state)
Transit card & sleeve
Tablet if needed
Folding umbrella if rain anticipated
Small pack of tissues
Pen/pencil
Reading material for the bus/train
And I’m sure I’m forgetting something.

I’ve been using a canvas bag but everything gets jumbled together in there and it’s awkward to root around in. Interior pockets would help.

I need to explore what’s out there.

(And I can already see the copycat threads.). Wink

Go to amazon and google "men's sling bag"

Mr. SK carries one of these. Very convenient!

I’ve been looking at man bags for me - I like casual, non-glitzy, and a certain size, and this one is perfect, I just can’t decide which color.

Time was you would carry a briefcase, but it seems those have gone out of style.

Backpacks seem to have largely taken their place, even if they are never carried on your back.

Jodi, those are beautiful, but the leather looks heavy. By the time I'd add all the necessaries I need to shlep, it would tilt me and my residual scoliosis. I already fall enough!

FWIW I DO wear backpacks (good looking ones with pockets) on my back and they help me stay vertical. My favorite is soft black calf's leather. Lightweight too.

A smallish backpack worn on one shoulder works perfectly for me.

The nice thing about the bag Jodi suggests is that you could use it with a sport jacket and it would look good. A backpack wouldn’t.

Things you wear on one shoulder make you walk funny and make your shoulders hunchy.

Backpacks have to be removed so you can get to your stuff.

Crossbody bags like the one jodi posted are the way to go. You just pull the bag to the front and can use both hands to remove items from it.

Years ago, Adagio posted about baggalini purses and bags, and I bought one and am still using it.

They have a non-leather crossbody that's kind of nice. Comes in a bunch of different colors. It might be too small for you); check the site and see if there's something similar in a bigger size. They have a ton of choices.

Here's baggallini's site; you can find the bags cheaper on other places like zappos.

edit: Size-wise, this one's bigger, but they don't list the strap length.

Cargo pants
I like the fire hose pants from Duluth Trading Company. duluthtrading.com
Fire hose refers to the weave used. They are durable and women have complimented them when I was wearing them.

I have a boring black canvas bag like that leather one. An iPad and a bunch of other stuff fit nicely in it. It was like $5.

I also have a fairly large fanny pack (bum bag in the UK) for traveling that holds my DSLR and stuff. I don’t really care that they went out of fashion in the 80s. It’s damn useful.

If you want to drop a lot of money, get one of these:

That brand has several different sizes/styles.

There is this one too, though it already looks worn out!

I searched “Manbag small leather” on Amazon.

There are some smart-looking canvas bags too. I have this same bicycle seat bag, only mine is slightly smaller.

Carrying a bag is bad for you. I use my pockets. When I ride I wear a fishing vest so I have plenty of pockets. When I go into a store I put my credit card in a pocket and leave the bag in the car.
