Here's a Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon moment. I don't know S.V. Date, but I exchanged pleasant words with him a few times a number of years ago. He was living in Florida and had a biography of Jeb Bush out at the time, and I think some novels too, so he turned up frequently on the Florida book promotion circuit. Since the big book festivals often seat writers alphabetically during the big cattle-call signings, he was often in the seat next to mine.
The only point to mentioning this is to say that it was fun to see the question we've all been waiting for come from a vaguely familiar face.
