A sneak peek at Michael Cohen's book.

quote:
'From golden showers in a sex club in Vegas, to tax fraud, to deals with corrupt officials from the former Soviet Union, to catch and kill conspiracies to silence Trump's clandestine lovers, I wasn't just a witness to the president's rise—I was an active and eager participant,' he wrote.

More glimpses of the upcoming Cohen book.

quote:
If Putin is held in the highest regard in Trump's mind, Cohen writes, Trump's own voters rank among those in the lowest. Speaking to Cohen after Trump gathered religious leaders at Trump Tower in the lead up to the 2012 presidential race, an encounter during which they asked to "lay hands" on him, Trump asked Cohen, according to the book: "Can you believe that bullsh*t?...Can you believe people believe that bullsh*t?"

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/0...ite-house/index.html

quote:
Cohen also reveals new alleged details about the convoluted effort behind a National Enquirer report smearing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.). Cohen says that Trump signed off on the baseless report to damage Cruz, one of his rivals in the 2016 Republican primary.

“It’s not real, right?” Trump allegedly asked after being shown a photograph, which the magazine would claim depicted Cruz’s father with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before Oswald killed President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

“Looks real to me!” Cohen responded, according to the book, prompting Trump to laugh as he demanded that the story be run on the tabloid’s front page.

“To say it would be a low blow would be an insult to low blows; can you think of another politician, ever, who would stoop this low?” Cohen writes.

quote:
Cohen notes that the grocery-store tabloid targeted each of Trump’s 2016 primary opponents in turn. He includes a document in the book, for instance, purporting to lay out the magazine’s plan to take down Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

quote:
Cohen describes Trump’s obsessive hatred of Obama, including claiming that the only reason the former president got into Columbia University and Harvard Law School was because of “f---ing affirmative action.” He also recounts Trump’s “low opinion of all black folks.” claiming that Trump once said while ranting about Obama, “Tell me one country run by a black person that isn’t a s---hole. They are all complete f---ing toilets.”

After South African President Nelson Mandela died in 2013, Trump said he did not think Mandela “was a real leader — not the kind he respected,” Cohen writes.

Instead, Cohen writes that Trump praised the country’s apartheid-era White rule, saying: “Mandela f---ed the whole country up. Now it’s a s---hole. F--- Mandela. He was no leader.”

Cohen writes that before winning the presidency, Trump held a meeting at Trump Tower with prominent evangelical leaders, where they laid their hands on him in prayer. Afterward, Trump allegedly said: “Can you believe that bulls--t? Can you believe people believe that bulls--t?”

“The cosmic joke was that Trump convinced a vast swathe of working-class white folks in the Midwest that he cared about their well-being,” Cohen writes. “The truth was that he couldn’t care less.”

quote:
Cohen’s book ends with something of a plea — though one that requires the reader to trust Cohen’s account of his time in the Trump orbit.

“You now have all the information you need to decide for yourself in November,” Cohen concludes.

https://www.washingtonpost.com...edb849379_story.html

quote:
According to the CNN extract, Trump, in pursuing his grudge against Obama, hired a lookalike "Fauxbama" and "ritualistically belittled the first black president and then fired him" in a bizarre video.

In the book, reports CNN, Cohen does not name the man hired to play Obama or say on what date the incident took place, but does include a picture from the video.

It shows Trump sitting across his Trump Tower desk from a man resembling Obama. On the desk in front of Trump are two books, one with Obama's name on the front.

quote:
But a copy of the video has emerged online

A parody of Trump's hit reality show The Apprentice, it was supposed to be aired at the 2013 RNC convention, according to reports, but was canned by party bosses.

In the video, published by Breitbart in 2013, Trump attacks the Obama lookalike's record as president, his lack of business experience, and his golf game. It ends with Trump hurling his "you're fired" Apprentice catchphrase at Obama and banishing him from his office.

"They never put it on," Trump told Breitbart of the RNC decision not to air the video at the time. "The reason they didn't put it on is because they thought it was too controversial. Controversy. It might not be politically correct."

Cohen, in extracts of the book published by the Post, details several racist diatribes by Trump. Cohen claims that when ranting about Obama in one incident, he went on to say, "tell me one country run by a black person that isn't a s---hole. They are all complete f---ing toilets."

According to the extracts, Trump belittled minority voters, saying, "I will never get the Hispanic vote. Like the blacks, they're too stupid to vote for Trump."

He also, writes Cohen, insulted South African leader Nelson Mandela, and praised the racist Apartheid regime.

"Mandela f---ed the whole country up. Now it's a s---hole. F--- Mandela. He was no leader," Cohen claims Trump said.

Cohen can rot in prison for all I care.

Had he not been caught, he’d still be working for Trump.

Shut up already, Michael.

He can rot in prison for all I care, too.

But....

He provides the unvarnished insider view of what happened.

He isn't groveling, trying to get a pardon from the Boss like others in the Trump orbit have done.

He has everything to lose and little to gain by writing this under his own name.

Doesn't make him a hero, but also doesn't mean what he has to say isn't valuable.

Don't have to read the book. The good parts will be all over the news and Spanky's Twitter feed when he explodes on Tuesday.

If it swings anybody on the fence, great.

Like Cindy said elsewhere, every little bit counts.

I’m reading the book. Very interesting, especially in light of things that have happened over the last few months.

I'm not sure if he's providing an unvarnished insider view. He has an ax to grind, and we already know he is more than willing to stay whatever he needs to say to get a paycheck.

I think all of these toadies should have a 5-year "thou shalt not write a book" clause in their employment contracts. I hate to see people like Cohen profit off of being total scumbags.

He's pretty hard on himself and how he went for the power trip hook, line, and sinker. He also goes into what happened with other people behind the scenes years before Trump became president. And he corrects what he thinks are errors in the record, for instance things like the Steele dossier.

The picture he paints of Trump is entirely consistent with what we see of his behavior. I had come to many of the same conclusions that Cohen has just by observing Trump in action day in and day out.

But your point is a totally valid one. He has his own bias and motivations.
