Wine shopping

I've been discovering really nice wines at a good price, but they're not available everywhere. There's a little shop in Soho, Manhattan called The Wine Hut that, yes, carries a few wines you can find anywhere, but most are from small producers and never-heard-of-them importers.

And I've been getting consistently INTERESTING bottles in the $12-15 range there (though they can go much higher). They're not necessarily wines with appellations or D.O.C. either. Small winemakers not aiming for the Robert Parker profile at all.

They must have someone with a great palate stocking their wines. This weekend, for example, had a 100% grenache red called Les Coopains (c. $12) from a wine growing cooperative in the south of France, just delightful.

My favorite small unknown vineyard. See them from time to time on the east coast and first bought in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1075 or so.

I remember Pedroncelli! I used to see their wines in stores a lot more, 15 or 20 years ago. Nice to see they are still around and making good wine!

Another Estancia-in-a-box find (different store): 2017 Monterey Pinot Noir for c. $35. Works out to $9/bottle. Pretty decent pinot.
