Sooo…. “Vaccination passports” are provincial, not federal. Many provinces lifted vaccination requirements shortly after the protests, though that was also when Omicron was subsiding. But the “protests” were being led by a group of people with known ties to racist, ultra right wing organizations, largely funded by ultra right folks in the US, so….. while I didn’t love the emergency measures act that was used, I understand why it was used, and was happy to see it removed about a week after it was enacted (rather than the 30 days that was allowed). The Ottawa Police were not doing their job to get rid of the occupiers, and the people who actually live in downtown Ottawa needed the occupiers to leave for their health and safety.
