2020 has created a dictionary’s worth of strange new words to describe these strange new times.

How many can you define?

I only got 5 out of 10.

6 out of 10. Hadn't heard of many of them so I was guessing. For at least three of the four I got wrong I was guessing between two and picked badly.

I got all of them correct Woot . But that's because I obsessively read articles about language, new words etc.
Plus I love portmanteaus portmanteaux!

I've heard of almost none of these. I got 6 out of 10, with a lot of guesses.

Also I call foul: you hear of people hanging out with their "bubble" all the time here in Canada. Damn Yankee quizzes. Big Grin

I thought the term for a self-defined/followed group created for purposes of contagion limitation was a "pod'.

I think these so-called definitions were made up by the author - not reflecting general terms. No wonder so many can be arrived at by guesswork.

Don't think they're genuine widespread social terms.

I don't think so (I mean, I don't think the author made any words or defs up). I recognized all of them from seeing them online, either people posting on FB or else reading about them. For example, like quaranteam is a word I have never seen used "in the wild" but I've seen it used in articles about covid. OTOH "pod" is one I see used in the wild all the time.

That’s the one I missed. I’ve never heard the term they used. We only talk about doomscrolling around here, anyway.
