It's already built, I think everyone that's a PW regular is more worried about it being dismantled, or worse, overrun by ads!!!

Time will tell.

You'll probably just have to wait and see what happens, but if PW's experience is anything like what happened to TNCR when their host was bought out, it may not be good. It becomes all about monetizing the forum rather than just providing a space for people to talk. Eventually they got tired of the carp and set up their own (independent) place.

Really? I visit and post there regularly and don't have this impression at all.

Maybe I'm just used to it, or maybe it's because I tend to only visit PW from my laptop, but I don't find the ads intrusive, and I never see any pop-ups or anything that gets in the way of what I'm trying to read.

You just don't remember the old PF. It's only been 15 to 20 years.

Probably not. According to my account info, I've been at PW since 2004, which is 18 years... wow, that's crazy!!

But what I meant to say was, I recall that it has changed a few times, but I tend to forget old interfaces pretty quickly. So although I may have seen the "old PF" I really don't remember it at this point.

When I think of sites that are "overrun" with ads, I think of pages that take forever to load, where there are ads covering up what you want to read. Or there are ads in the center of the page and you have scroll to get past them. Or worse, ads blinking or moving along the sides. I really can't stand it when there's movement like that!

So compared to that, I find the ads at PW right now to be pretty unobtrusive.
