I don't have room/ funds for a separate fixture.

Anyway, I tried a bidet for the first time yesterday. I was skeptical that it might not work or be able to be cleaned easily.

Well, I was wrong and want one.

Without being a separate fixture, the bidet function can be an “add-on” to the seat of a regular toilet:

An even simpler alternative would be to add a hose, possible with a kitchen sprayer, to somewhere near the toilet. This would be a fairly common setup in many South East Asian countries.

One thing I’ve seen in Japan that I really like the concept of is a small wash sink built right onto the top of the toilet tank. It made so much sense to me.

They're only $30 or so online as an add-on.

I’m not sure why that design hasn’t caught on here, especially in drought prone areas.

OMG, I love my bidet. Love, love, love.

We did out bathrooms last year, and I left it to the contractor to recommend a bidet that went with the toilet we installed. He picked one with a ton of features -- and I love them all.

Heated seat -- just wonderful
Heated water -- mmmmmmm
Separate streams for lady bits versus backside bits -- makes the water hit its target
Programmable -- set your water temperature and force
Oscillation -- goes back and forth

The key is you need an electrical outlet if you want the heating features. I think it would be worth it to put in an outlet if you want a bidet.

Spend the money -- get a bidet.

We recently stayed in an AirBnb with a toilet that had all of Cindy's options.

We're definitely buying one!

The evacuation order was lifted and we're going back to a refrigerator full of rotten food (because of course we turned off the breakers).

We won't be ordering one today but hopefully very soon.
