You're wanting a lakefront property right? This place is perfect.

You would just have to get rid of some wallpaper.... Well, ok, you would have to get rid of all the wallpaper, including the stuff on the ceilings. And some carpet. Well, ok, all the carpet.

But the views!! Just keep your eyes focused outside of the house and you should be fine....

That is an incredibly pretty view ... if you can afford the heating bill with all that glass.

Good point. I was too distracted by all the work that would need to be done inside first to think about those kinds of details.

It is a very pretty spot though, isn't it!

Holy cow, those bedrooms. And bathrooms. And wallpaper. And carpet.....

But it might be worth it for that view. Wow.

I lived in a house we called "the purple palace" in grad school. Purple paint, purple carpet, purple bathroom. And by purple bathroom I mean purple paint, purple tile, purple sink, purple bathtub, purple toilet. Big Grin

(As an aside, the word "purple" looks ridiculous when read over and over....)

There's a lot to like about that house and a lot to despise. It does look like impeccable workmanship. Hanging wallpaper on ceilings is not easy.

That reminds me of an apartment a friend of mine lived in. The building was not at all bad, but was scheduled for demolition in a year or two so the owner told my friend and his roommates that they were free to decorate as they wished. The most memorable room had a flat black ceiling, red wine colored walls, and a white deep-pile carpet. Just your basic sin bin.

If that's your style, the house has a lot of it!

A little $spendy for us (the $20K/year property tax bill alone HairRaising ) but the views are fantastic!

I think Al said it best:

Also, yikes, I didn't notice the property taxes!! (I was too busy wondering what compelled someone to do so much ugly to what would otherwise be a beautiful house...)

Indeed, if someone was able to consider a house in that price range!

Expensive to maintain too. Too much house, despite the views.

I was thinking the same thing. Lake Michigan is at near-record highs, and this is happening here in Chicago:

Lake Erie is really high, too. A number of docks and launch ramps are underwater.

A new normal?
