Don in ICU

Don in ICU

Yesterday I found Don on the floor. He tried to get up.
He told me he wanted to take all his pills and die. It was not the first time he has said that.
The ambulance took him to the local hospital where he was intubated.
Then they took him to a hospital in the northern Denver metro.
They are treating him with antibiotics.
He is lying face down with a tube down his throat. Wires are running over much of him.
He may survive.
He does not want to.

What a thing for both of you to go through.

I had a very close friend, my adopted mom, really, recently tell me she was, at 88, ready to go. She lost a son a little more than a year ago and has significant back pain. It was something I could not grasp at a younger age, but from my current perspective I get it.

Don't sister has Medical Power of Attorney. He dies not have a Living Will. She is at the hospital. I drove home.
