Also, this kind of thing is so, so frustrating. Your right to assemble puts everyone else's right to receive medical care at risk because your assembly spreads the virus, which overloads the hospitals... Why don't they get that??

Their liberty trumps all. Most libertarians I have met (not all, mind you) are zealous. It's a true ideology. They simply do not think that externalities are real. If my actions hurt you, there would be a market solution, i.e. a market would spontaneously emerge in which you could buy the rights to stop my behavior that you think hurts you. Since those markets don't exist, it must mean that any costs I impose on you aren't big enough to worry about. | |||
