That's probably right. Or, what it's like to try to teach journalism to students who will just show you the back of their hand and say, "OK, Boomer."

That said, the most valuable lesson these kids should have learned here is this: they should have consulted people who've been through the fire before. They are at a hugely prestigious school of journalism. They have classes every day with important and respected professors.

Ask someone for advice.

If they'd done that sufficiently, I doubt the editorial would have come out quite the same way.
