I find cards like this easy to lose. Can’t I just get the version of the vaccination with the chip implant?

I have old vaccination cards/ booklets for myself and both my kids. Don’t see why this should d freak anybody out (though I know it will). Pretty easy way to keep track of things.

Is there some official stamp or embossing when you get a shot? Otherwise, it looks like they would be pretty easy to alter to make it look like you had your vaccine when you didn't. Like if you need to show proof of vaccination to get on a plane or leave/enter the country, and them antimasker/antivaxxers ain't gonna do that.

I think an embedded chip would work...
Honestly, I don't understand what the issue is. This country is going crazy.

How long does the vaccine last? Six months? A year? Ten years? Do they know?

Don’t see why the card has room to record 4 doses?

Here's what I've read so far:

1) Duration of immunity isn't known for people who were vaccinated, or for those who acquired the disease naturally. I heard just this morning that antibodies after three months in vaccine trial volunteers were lower than their peak, so they seem to diminish pretty quickly. Still believed to be protective but I don't think we've established what level of antibodies represents sufficient immunity to know for sure. ...which leads to...

2) There have been studies comparing COVID-19 with related coronaviruses to see if a picture of DOI can be developed. Here's some discussion.

3) The full picture regarding the mechanism of immunity is still being investigated. This piece in Scientific American talks about immunity and the various factors that might explain which people might get really sick, or might have a mild case.

The bottom line:

quote:
On an individual level, people need to take stock of every layer of their own vulnerability, from the biological to the societal, and do what they can to mitigate hazards through pandemic-specific practices such as social distancing, mask wearing and avoiding crowds. (It is also important to try to maintain healthy habits, such as a good diet and regular exercise, although current circumstance can make doing so difficult.) At the same time, it is wise to remember that risk-group analyses reflect averages. An individual might have no obvious risk factors and still wind up desperately sick or dead. “The only job of this virus is to replicate itself,” Jones points out. “It will make its way through all the susceptibles that it can find.”

I'm with the folks in "will you get vaccinated" thread who can afford to isolate and wait to see how the vaccine pans out. edit: I am willing and able to almost completely isolate to protect myself. I won't be traveling, I won't eat at restaurants, and I will make minimal trips to go out for groceries. I'll be masked and socially distance when I go out of my home.

I can certainly appreciate the arguments for herd immunity, but I don't believe I pose a hazard to the rest of the public. I appreciate that others may not agree.

Yea, it's a reminder for the card holder to get the correct booster shot at the right time. Isn't good for much else.

With all the technology we carry around I was surprised that they came up with this.

Seems to me a national database can record the vaccination since they should already be tracking who got it when and administered by whom. Then, the person entering the data asks how you would like to be reminded: phone call, text message, or e-mail.

Come on, folks. This is 2020.

markj could whip that up in an afternoon or less.

So the head of Loyola University Medical Center was just on the news. They are not mandating that employees get the vaccine. A survey of medical staff indicates that 70 percent want to get the vaccine.

Interesting.
