I like their stuff just fine, but $4,500? Yikes!

I had a Le Creuset grill pan and hated it.

Have a Le Creuset Dutch oven and a Peugeot salt and pepper shaker grinders. If only I had a cook.

I'd gladly cook for you. Bit of a drive, but we could probably get Steve to come down.

GREAT!! You may love it here. Plan on an indefinite stay. I came for one ski season in 1994.

If Le Creuset is compatible with an induction cooktop, I am sorely tempted to trash everything we own instead of moving it and restock with this set. On a more frugal note, Le Creuset apparently has a traveling sale where they come to various major metropolitan areas and rent out a warehouse. I think you can buy everything there at a deep discount, but the big draw is the $50 mystery box. Muffin's Sister went with a friend and got the mystery box. You get several items, but no control over what they are or what color they are, although there appears to be some attempt to pack coordinating colors in the boxes. As you can imagine, there was an active swapping market out in the parking lot. She got some things she really wanted, one of which retailed for $200.

I've found equally good performance with other porcelain-clad iron cookware at much lower prices - though not always in such cool colors. I couldn't live without my big ol' Creuset Dutch oven (or its imitators) but I can't imagine needing anything else. They're soooooo heavy, and once you put some food in them they require a small army to help get things out of the oven. It's worth it when you need it, but a creuset saucepan? Not worth it. I say this as someone with zero experience with Le Creuset bakeware, so perhaps I'm missing out. | |||
