Hi, Mary Anna,

I've been thinking about Florida. Do you know if the red tide has abated, or if not what the status of it is now? I haven't had the heart to follow any news about it. I've kind of banned myself from news and politics.

I don't know for sure about the red tide, but I just read last night that there had been a bad contaminant release into the St. Johns River. My Facebook friends are posting photos of the freshwater springs like Silver Springs that have degraded seriously over the past decade.

It's pretty bad all over.

I'm in FLorida right now (Tampa/Sarasota area) and everyone - family - says it's finally gone. We - me and two sons - certainly don't see any.
