Apparently Yamaha has a program in England that puts pianos in places like train stations. From what I can tell it’s called Yamaha 88.

It’s a brilliant piece of marketing and I will bet it sells more pianos than any other promotion that they offer. Even better, it appears that they keep the pianos in a decent state of tune.

I would sure like to see this in the US. Brendan Kavanaugh has 1500 YouTube videos and has to have an effect.

Ya know, I could learn to do this. I stopped playing piano, and indeed got rid of my piano, after three years of lessons by a wonderful lady who was bound and determined to teach me to read music and play classical. I know how to read music, but the pathway from sheet music to actually playing no longer functions.

But I never played that way anyway. I play by ear from patterns, or at least I did. I’ll bet I can find somebody to teach boogie patterns or I can learn from YouTube videos. I play guitar that way.

What if RonTuner can find me a fine old cabinet grand in Chicago?

Maybe I have a retirement plan. I’m excited! ThumbsUp
