DanielDouble the median price for the area. Relatively out of the way. I'm not shocked by the price. They'd try to get more if they could. House is nice. Probably not as private as it seems.

QuirtEvansInterestingly enough, we are looking in that area, and the realtor sent us that listing.

wtgHere's the listing, including floor plan.
There actually is a red floor outside...and in the kitchen....matches the red counters...

I don't think there's anything imminent, but I also don't think we plan to retire in Oklahoma. When we leave Oklahoma will be completely up to Mary Anna; my job is portable, hers is not. So, we're not leaving until she's ready to leave.
That said, my current employer is located in New York. I work remotely, but there are disadvantages (and advantages) to that.
And, when Mary Anna decides she's ready to retire and we relocate, our family is pretty spread out, but the greatest concentration is in the New York/Connecticut/Massachusetts area. So, that's at least part of the thought process.

RealPlayerMaybe change the topic name: The house that is for sale is not in Staten Island, but in Blauvelt, NY., north of the city.

How does this work? Is a house on the island not necessarily *in* the island?

I think it’s confusing. We don’t say on Manhattan, but in Manhattan. But you wouldn’t use “on” to describe a house on the mainland.
Maybe it’s tricky though. Would you say on Key West or in Key West? On Oahu, in Oahu?
Maybe it’s size or population…or not. Long Island is big, has lots of people, but it’s always “on.”
Islands that are their own countries are always “in.” Cuba, Haiti, Mozambique.
Interesting question, Steve.
