Betty White, the actor best known for roles in sitcoms The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls, has died aged 99.

White died at her home on Friday morning, just two weeks before she would have turned 100. Her agent Jeff Witjas told People magazine: “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live for ever.”

Frowner A role model for many of us. I like to think she is now happily reunited with her beloved husband.

That's sad. She was never one who appeared to be declining.

Well that’s sad. There is a big TV story about her life that was supposed to celebrate her 100th birthday. I wonder if they’ll air it.

She had a good run and stayed classy to the end.

RIP, Betty. Well miss you.

I loved her when I was a kid in the game show "Password". We loved the game so much we had the board game version at home.

The host, Allen Ludden, was Betty's husband...this is a rare time where they admit to that. Smiler

Betty White's favorite animal causes.

Anyone who has been loved by a golden knows this feeling....

quote:
White was a major donor to Guide Dogs for the Blind. She was involved with the non-profit for more than 30 years, sponsoring dogs, hosting benefits and raising money.

White didn't need a guide dog to get around, but she took one home anyway — as a pet. After she lost a previous dog to cancer, Guide Dogs for the Blind offered her Pontiac, a young golden retriever in need of a career change. A leg problem ended his service dog training, but it led to a close companionship with White.

"That's my heart, my golden retriever," she told AARP. "Whenever I come home late from work at night, I come up to the house and here's this big golden head in the window on the left stairway landing, looking out and waiting for me."
