A relative is selling farmland and putting the $$$$ into a company that is going to build the first new hotel/casino on the strip to be built in several years. The company is also planning high speed automated car washes.
Water? I suppose if it does not begin to rain and snow again like it did 20 years ago we are all in trouble, but Las Vegas is in trouble today, not 20 years in the future.

I think most modern car washes use grey water. They're not a net demander. Went through one of those in Mountainview CA a few weeks ago and got the story of why car washes operate in water-scarce areas.

Automated car washes must be the hot new franchise or something. There’s one every few miles and they keep building new ones. Wash prices are dropping and my friend in Tucson says he goes to one that only costs $3. The cheapest one here is about $10, but none of them do a very good job on the truck.

I’d insist on a commitment to supply water from the water company before investing in Las Vegas. Might be tough to get - Lake Mead doesn’t have much water in it these days.

I’d also see which casinos have been flooding and build on higher ground.

Many new automated car washes have been built in the last few years in my area. They’re like nail salons. They’re everywhere, they’re everywhere. One new one that opened up is a combination gas station, car wash, and convenience store. Unbelievably, none of them offer electric charging stations and electric cars look like what’s in store for cars of the future. Some car washes use recycled water to conserve water. The spray off water is collected, filtered, and then reused to wash the next car. How well a car wash filters the water is another question.

Same with casinos in Las Vegas. They’re everywhere, they’re everywhere. Gambling is so pervasive in Las Vegas that even non-casinos are allowed to have slot machines. For example, I saw laundromats with slot machines and McCarran's airport terminal is lined with them. Hard to imagine LV needing any more casinos.

You would think that, but more than once I've tried to make a hotel reservation in Las Vegas only to find that the entire town is booked up due to one special event or another.

Booked three days at a hotel in Vegas near the strip about 12 years ago.
Left after 18 hours, which included a night of little sleep.
Slot machines everywhere. Cigarette smoke everywhere.
I don't think the world needs more of that.

Let me know if you decide to visit again. There is a lot of cool stuff to do in Las Vegas - and casinos aren’t on the list.

The only other activity I know of there is that AA is very active there. Seems to follow.

Mob museum. One of the best museums I’ve ever toured. Beautifully curated and a lot of fun. It’s presented in the original 1902 courthouse.

Pinball museum. 1000 vintage machines you can actually play. Way more fun that slot machines.

Museum of Fine Art at the Wynn. A rotating exhibit from Steve Wynns private collection. Likely the only chance I’ll ever have to view works of this quality and I was enriched by the experience. The gardens at the Wynn are exquisite.

Pioneer Saloon - Goodsprings - best reached by chartered Hummer tour although you can drive there. Cool old saloon with a lot of history. Tolerable food.

Cool food. Start with Guy Fieri’s DDD recommendations. Guy went to school there and knows what cooks.

Anything by Cirque de Soleil. Most shows take place in specially engineered theaters you won’t find anywhere else. Mystere is my fave, followed by “O”. I don’t think they’re doing “Fyr “ anymore - too bad. Beautifully performed. Blue Man group is worth a look too.

Pawn shops - not the one in TV. Gamblers will hock their teeth for one more roll and many do. Interesting stuff and a few bargains.

Fremont Street Experience. Three blocks of downtown with an overhead light show like you’ve never seen. Start at the old Golden Gate hotel for the $1.99 shrimp cocktail (it’s very good) and have a look at the first telephone in Vegas. The telephone number is “1”.

Spend time on the street at night to watch the show. Not just the light show - the street performers and the crowd. I’ve seen your Halloween costumes and I guarantee you’ll get the vibe. Let your hair down - it’s Vegas!
