| quote: An autopsy commissioned for George Floyd’s family found that he died of asphyxiation due to neck and back compression when a Minneapolis police officer held his knee on Floyd's neck for several minutes and ignored his cries of distress, the family’s attorneys said Monday.
The autopsy by a doctor who also examined Eric Garner’s body found the compression cut off blood to Floyd’s brain, and weight on his back made it hard to breathe, attorney Ben Crump said at a news conference.
The family’s autopsy differs from the official autopsy as described in a criminal complaint against the officer. That autopsy included the effects of being restrained, along with underlying health issues and potential intoxicants in Floyd’s system, but also said it found nothing “to support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation.” https://www.msn.com/en-us/news...pression/ar-BB14Tr7v -------------------------------- When the world wearies and society ceases to satisfy, there is always the garden - Minnie Aumônier

I remember reading that and thinking that it didn't make any sense. That it seemed so "off" from what we could see in the video. But then things exploded in cities all over the country and I didn't follow through with my original thoughts about the autopsy. Now I want to know who was involved in the "official" autopsy, and I hope they get called out in the coming days. When there are competing autopsies like this, how do the two different reports get treated in the criminal trial? |

| Seems like something from a Tom Wolfe novel, setting up an acquittal before the *real* protests start. But as I think about it seems to me you can cut off blood circulation to the brain and kill someone without asphyxiation. -------------------------------- If you think looting is bad wait until I tell you about civil forfeiture.

| quote: The Hennepin County Medical Examiner on Monday declared the death of George Floyd a homicide, saying he died of "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual restraint, and neck compression," according to a Minneapolis television station.
The updated report from the examiner states that Floyd died from a loss of blood flow due to compression on his neck while being restrained by Minneapolis police, local Fox television affiliate Fox 9 reported. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news...-report/ar-BB14Tvsi? -------------------------------- When the world wearies and society ceases to satisfy, there is always the garden - Minnie Aumônier
