Surprising to me.
I am adjusting to the fact that he may well be the candidate.
Exciting, huh?

Wow indeed. Almost like Trump and his unshakeable base. And I suspect they would turn out for him in the general election. Maybe not quite at Obama levels, but hopefully close enough to close out some swing states like Wisconsin (Milwaukee) and Pennsylvania (Philly).

Also, this is why Buttigieg, if by some miracle he develops a lead during super Tuesday (CA), will probably seek out an African American running mate. Hence the Stacey Abrams talk.

I will be disappointed if Biden is the eventual candidate, but I'll skip to the polls to vote for him, metaphorically speaking. (We have vote by mail here, so I guess I'll skip to the mailbox to vote for him.)

I still think a Buttigieg/African American ticket would be worthwhile, as P*D says.

I'm with y'all. Not my first choice. Not my second choice. Not my third choice.

But, if he's nominated, he's my candidate.

(Biden's pronoun is "he", right? I haven't checked his Twitter or Gram to see whether he's expressed a preference.)

Big Grin

Biden's the only candidate ahead of Trump in Florida.

Biden's also the only candidate ahead of Trump in VA, which is freaking scary. No Virginia = four more years.

FL
Biden 47, Trump 45
Trump 51, Warren 42
Trump 49, Sanders 44
Trump 49, Buttigieg 45
Dec 11-16, RVs, +/- 4%

VA
Biden 49, Trump 45
Trump 48, Warren 44
Trump 51, Sanders 45
Trump 47, Buttigieg 45

I don't trust any Trump Vs. numbers at this point. Except for Biden and Sanders, the other Dems haven't really had the spotlight on them, and some, like Buttigieg, have significant upside potential.

Biden has a bit of a "let them eat cake" moment.

quote:
During a rally yesterday, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke to a crowd in Derry, N.H., a town that many miners call home. He acknowledged the economic setbacks and job insecurity that coal miners face these days, and gave them some advice: learn to code.

According to Dave Weigel of the Washington Post, Biden said, “Anybody who can go down 3,000 feet in a mine can sure as hell learn to program as well... Anybody who can throw coal into a furnace can learn how to program, for God’s sake!”

According to Weigel, the comment was met with silence from the audience.

I wish he'd stop doing this.

It's especially silly because coding can be automated to a large extent. The real jobs are in things that cannot be automated, like customized computer applications for clients. To paraphrase Boromir at the council of Elrond ...

One does not simply walk into Mor---gan State to switch from coal miner to IT specialist.

Yep. I thought he was a well meaning fool when he ran in 88 and again in 08.

If anything he’s gotten worse since then. He just looks better because there’s so much mediocrity and worse in the field today.
