Are you keeping your music CDs?

CindysphinxAre you keeping your music CDs?
Today I decided I was tired of having a significant portion of a closet filled with dust-covered music CDs on a huge rack. We have Spotify and iTunes, so why do we need CDs? Heck, we don't even have a CD player anymore.
Mr. Sphinx wants to keep them. I am gobsmacked -- I do not understand the point.
What about you? Do you still have your CD collection?
Cindy -- who now can get the vacuum cleaner out of the closet without having to navigate hundreds of CDs, and who also now has a nice place to store the mop, bucket, and cobweb cleaner on a stick thingie

markjStill have a good amount of CDs. Recently purchased a new DAC that gave my Sony 50+1 CD player a significant upgrade in sound quality.
Not actively buying new CDs. That budget is now directed at buying vinyl records.

jon-nycI have them deep in a closet as ‘backup’. I still buy CDs, in fact more so far in 2019 than any year in the last decade. I rip them to iTunes and put the discs in the closet.
At least they are in pages in a special binder, rather than still in the cases. So that takes up less space.
If I didn’t have the extra closet space, I’d probably toss them.
I’ve looked into music services but they suck for classical music. All of them.

Jack FrostI ripped them all, threw awa plastic jewel cases, and put them in plastic sheets in 3 ring bind ears, 4 to a page.
I typically buy new music in cd format from Amazon. Often cheapest alternative.

jon-nycYep. They’re cheap as hell now. Especially box sets. Last year I got a 10 CD set of the complete recordings of Rachmaninoff (as artist) for $28.

rustyfingersI put them in those binders years ago, never looked at them, and then ditched them altogether two years ago when we moved.
Finally got rid of my records then too.

CHASOrdered a new CD yesterday.
Don't like the sound from The Amazon Echo for music.
Still have hifi stereo with great speakers and receiver. The receiver could stream.
I like to put the CD I am going to play in the tray and listen to the special music on it and then put it away.
Will put CDs in sleeves uh .. tomorrow.
Streaming makes me think of elevator music.
