My recent plunge into the world of vinyl records  is making me want to explore the geeky side of the audio hobby.

Like building an amplifier. Being that I am not an electronics engineer, or anything even resembling a designer, I looked around for a kit to build. I found the AkitikA (It's a palindrome) GT-102 solid state, stereo amplifier kit. https://www.akitika.com/GT102.html

They also make a nice pre-amp kit and depending on how the amplifier build goes. will probably be the second stereo component I will build. I also want to build a tube amp and pre-amp but I figured I would start with a less expensive option.

A few photos of the build.

All of the resistors populated on the power supply board...

The finished power supply.

The first of two amplifier channels populated with resistors and the small capacitors.

I hope to have the amplifier finished over the next couple of days.

That's all for tonight. I have to build an identical amplifier channel and wire it all together inside the chassis.

I might be running power-on tests tomorrow evening.

My dad designed component stereo systems when I was a kid. His workshop was just full of this stuff and ohm meters and the like. I think it's very cool you are doing this.

Cool.

If I didn't already have a house full of Carver amps, I might try my hand at building one of those.

The modern Heathkit, eh?

Both amplifier channels are complete.

Need to wire everything together and mount it in the enclosure.

I have other things that are keeping me from finishing it right now.  Might finish it later tonight. If not, then definitely tomorrow.

Nice work, Mark. I didn't know kit-built electronics were still available.

I built quite a few Heathkits back in the day. We still have the AR-1500A stereo receiver that I built around 1975. One of my sons used it for years in his office after I retired it from my home system.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!

Amplifier channels mounted and wired to inputs and outputs. Still need to wire and mount the transformer and power supply board...

Getting close!
