Steve MillerIt’s NYT so I can’t read it, but there are plenty of other outlets with the same story. AP, for example, where the NYT gets their news, is free.
Looks to me like a massive overestimation of the force of the storm. I suppose this is good but it does make me wonder just how useful this information is.
I wish I was in the lower desert to watch it all happen. I’ve always loved desert rainstorms.

Have seen desert rainstorms from Bob's place in Tucson. Going into the desert to watch the rain would be great.
Getting the vehicle stuck would not be so great.

Piano*DadI have been in Santa Fe when three inches of rain came down in a hour. The drainage system cannot handle it. The streets turned into surging fast-flowing rivers.
Never been out in the actual desert under a cloudburst.
