I have been trying to get a good recording of this for a few months now. But today I gave up and decided that this is as good as it's going to get (probably the only way it will get better is if I stop playing it and come back to it in 5 years Blink

So, please listen if you have a minute. In many ways it's very different from other pieces that I play, and even though it probably doesn't "sound" like jazz, to me, there's something jazz-esque about it.

And based on my experience playing, I am now confident that this is probably as close to jazz as I'll ever get. suave



P.S. I did something funny, so please excuse the shrunken screen.

P.P.S. I have been trying to participate in the ABF recitals at PW, so that's why I just decided to call this one done, so I can share it there.

But it's been great practice, aiming to recording and participate in those, after not doing so for many years.

Al, do you mean posting in the forum, or participating in the recitals? I'm guessing recitals, and I would say (depending on how one defines "many") there are usually at least 30 people, sometimes closer to 50 -- for the 60th recital (yep, the ABF recitals have been running for just over 15 years now!) there were 80 submissions (80 people).

They have also started these themed recitals, which I hadn't previously participated in, but I submitted a recording to the "Female Composers Themed Recital," and now I'm working on a piece for the April "Piano Transcriptions Themed Recital." (I working on a solo piano arrangement of a classical guitar piece by Andrew York).

As I said, trying to do more recordings has really been great as a learning activity!

And now that I never have the chance to play for friends or attend piano parties (thanks, covid), sharing my recordings (despite their rough edges) has been very rewarding!

The transcription of the guitar piece? I definitely will! It is so fun to play, but some of it is so hard!!
