How cool to read that! Japan has a tradition of eating noodles one new year's eve. Mr. SK makes them every year, this year (well, technically last year, Dec. 31), he made the broth different and added some fancy shrimp thing that he did. I thoroughly enjoyed The Splendid Table podcast today. The first section is about Chinese customs. Very relatable for me! The second and third sections are about Vietnamese and Korean traditions.

A large Asian market opened in Staten Island a few months ago. I’m loving it. No need to go to Manhattan or Brooklyn Chinatowns to shop. About a 20-min. drive for me, but worth it every so often. And the bus is almost door-to-door.
