I grew up listening to Professor Tom. In fact my wife and I have been singing lines from Lobachevsky at each other the last few days.

One of my favorite lines from a short autobiography was "my parents were Gastronomic Jews -- they worshiped at the deli".

He's great. I discovered him when I was in college in the 70s.

He's still around, age 92.

I remember the New Math and the Bomb songs from age 7 or 8. My friend’s dad had the LP.

Wouldn't that have been a wax cylinder?

We all sang The Elements together when I was a kid.

A friend likes to say he's a culinary Jew. Big Grin

Only just discovered Tom Lehrer? Heavens!

We grew up listening to the album "That was the week that was." My brother and I had all the lyrics memorized. We were not allowed to play the album when my parents' Catholic friends were visiting lest they overhear "The Vatican Rag"

I thought it was MIT. He was told he could remain on the faculty or he could be an entertainer. Not both.

Heard ABOUT him for years but haven’t listened much. I do know Vatican Rag. I must explore.

Only caught a few ending minutes of the PBS thing. He really can play the piano!
