[Trump's] bout with the coronavirus, which was far more serious than acknowledged at the time

Me and 90% of everyone who reads this: "I knew it!!"

quote:
Perhaps now, they thought, he would encourage Americans to wear masks and put his health and medical officials front and center in the response. Instead, Trump emerged from the experience triumphant and ever more defiant. He urged people not to be afraid of the virus or let it dominate their lives, disregarding that he had had access to health care and treatments unavailable to other Americans.

Because of course he did. It's just stupid to think the result could have been any different.

I still do not understand why people never seem to fully believe that Trump is who he is. What's that famous saying by Maya Angelou? "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

Sigh.

quote:
He actually asked aides who wore them in his presence to take them off.

God. What an *sshole. I had almost forgotten how much I hate this man.

Ugh, I shouldn't have read that. It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, and just reminded my how much damage this man has done to this country, and the world.

I think it's almost like a mild form of ptsd....

Sorry to dredge up old negative stuff...

What struck me was what a precarious situation we were in back then, with these kinds of things going on.

I'm reading Preventable by Andy Slavitt .

The review is pretty much spot on.

Yes, indeed! It's terrifying to think about how bad things would be had Biden not been elected!

I read that earlier today-- reinforcing the notion that he is legitimately, truly, mentally ill.

Amid chaos at the White House as the coronavirus pandemic worsened, Donald Trump took to referring derisively to the Covid taskforce chaired by his vice-president as “that ******* council that Mike has”.

quote:
Previous revelations from the book have included that Trump wanted to send infected Americans to Guantánamo Bay and that he mused about John Bolton, his national security adviser, being “taken out” by Covid.
