I’ve never had cable. I have an antenna for local and Netflix and Prime for everything else. J

Not yet available in my area. I'm interested in alternatives because where I live there are only two local providers, and both of them have their problems/limitations. I presently have three telephone lines to my house to get halfway satisfactory service over DSL lines. My service provider talks about upgrades but none have happened to date. I've considered just using the other provider for internet service and seeing how streaming works over their service, but I haven't pulled the trigger on that. I've also considered OTA for local channels. I still have an outdoor antenna with a rotor from before cable service was available, but it would need some refurbishment to be sure I could use it. In particular, I doubt if the amplifier at the antenna is still in working condition. I used to receive about 25 channels which was useful before cable, but I haven't even tried to connect to it since. Big Al

I switched to youtube tv from Sling. Sling is cheaper, but so very unreliable. And it only had some channels (no ABC or CBS, just NBC and then only on the Blue plan). And you had to manually program the DVR, and you could run out of space. Finally I got fed up and figured it was worth $30 dollars not to have the headaches of sling. You tell the DVR to record new episodes of Late Night with Seth Myers, and it does it, forever. No space limits. And for sports, it knows if the tennis match I was recording went long and doesn't lop it off at the end. Regarding local channels, I get ESPN and your basic sports channels, but you have to pay extra for things like excessive amounts of football. For the olympics, they had every sport, no matter how silly or inane. Very happy with YouTube so far.

We've had a pretty good experience with YouTubeTV. We get everything we want to get. Finding things that it has saved for you is ... not as easy as it ought to be. And finding things to record (like movies) was easier on DirecTV. But otherwise, it's been a good experience. We get local channels. We get sports. We get PBS. We get the things that we use.

Do you get local network news? Network programming like "The Voice"?
