LL#1's university makes national news for student stupidity. Sigh. https://news.yahoo.com/miami-u...-mass-032834466.html In case you don't want to watch, 6 people who were DIAGNOSED WITH COVID AND SUPPOSED TO BE IN QUARANTINE hosted a party with at least 10 other people who then returned to their homes. Meanwhile, 1 in 17 students currently living there (only off campus housing is open so mostly upperclassmen) has an active case of covid and they haven't even opened up the dorms or started in person classes yet. They are supposed to announce whether they'll open the dorms and bring in all the on campus students today. Meanwhile, the parents facebook group is all up in arms because "testing has too many false positives" "my kid will go stir crazy if they have to quarantine" and "it's a violation of HIPPA/the US Constitution/FREEDOMS that the police could get access to kids' test results and know that they were supposed to be in quarantine when they busted up the party" With this level of Dumbass in the country, there's no way this pandemic is ever going away. | |||

I have a friend who teaches at UIUC (Illinois) and she said that students have to be tested twice a week, and that some students who tested positive and are supposed to be quarantined are then going out and getting re-tested (in some cases multiple times) to try to get a negative test so they don't have to quarantine... She said the UIUC chancellor sent out an admonishing email that was basically the uni-version of "Don't make me turn this car around!" Sigh.
