NinaRaise your hand if you're surprised at this. What's changed? Well, the increase in COVID cases, for one. But the cynic in my says it's really the result of Trump's free fall in the polls, giving the decision makers a bit of confidence in pushing back on the GOP's ridiculous notion of holding a massive indoor convention, in Florida, now.
But it might have been kind of fun to see Trump bloviating in another semi-filled arena. As I understand it, the "mechanics" of the convention (the nominating process, etc.) are still being held in Charlotte, and the events in Jacksonville will therefore be political theater, speechifying and so forth. If they decide to continue with it, it may be a colossal dud a la Tulsa.
